What we ultimately want in science are discoveries. But these do not unfold in a logical, step-wise process: the unpredictable path to a new idea requires the generation of new questions.
How to be open for discovery?
If we are too narrow, our project lacks freedom to evolve. But being too open can spiral into chaos. Learning to find the right balance between these extremes is one of the greatest joys in science.
